Mossman Cense

Burnt graphite from
Wooden pencils
And charred ink
From cheap pens

Clashes with the dark halls
Of college buildings
Flashlight lit to
Permeate paranoia

Waterlogged woods in rain
Into Green River
To runoff and drain
Through blacktop lanes

A lurking wraith
With no legs
Silent hovering
Stalking the place

But a face
Frozen in horror
And hooded reach
To touch with dank hands

Of mossy fingers
Slowly roaming
These somber halls
Plying as it goes

The spirit of Green River
A marshy haunting in
Grim labyrinthine corridors:
Neurosis be thy name
