Metro November

I must say sorry, my darling
For all the bad men in the world
But if they only want you to use
I wouldn’t call them friends if I were you

When a friend berates you
For not letting yourself go
There’s not much more to show
That his intentions are only wrong

Why can’t everyone see what I do?
That you are worth protecting
As a marble sculpture
Chiseled by a master

Who wouldn’t want to support you?
Who wouldn’t care about you?
I think everyone should
Want to be a part of something great

I’m glad you’re so precious to me
Of you, I’ll never let go
Like a treasure buried long ago
Waiting for me to find and cherish

It comes to mind that they’re wrong
With you there is no fault
You deserve so much that’s better
When those around you can’t be deader

You’ve been abused and hurt
Hit on and whistled at
So when they keep on hurting you
Why do you feel you owe them?

You’re perfect just the way you are
And if they all can’t accept you
And I’m the last man standing
Then they’re not at all deserving

I’ll ride with you to hell and back
I’ll wait for you in heaven, in fact
I’m proud of you for surviving
It proves you’re actually thriving

You stay with friends who aren’t
They make you feel so pressured
You get yelled at and scolded
As if they thought of you as more
