Memento

Memento

After the beast was slain
I dropped my lance and shield

And as it lay writhing
I stood upon its chest afield,

Gripped one of its great tusks
And wrenched free a tooth from its maw,

Holding it from behind gauntlets.
A jagged blade of bone and dread,

A trophy ripped free in victory
From a monster laid broken and dead.
