Little Cell

Little Cell

Somewhere steam sputters stressfully
Deep in the catacombs of a coal pyre
Shoveled into an engine to serve as fuel
Somewhere in the distance a boiling fire
Pipes venting pressure all around
A network of rattling incomprehensible
Obscured by smoke from tower flues

Oppressively shadowed desaturating through
Ducts of a giant massive it grew
Each echo off foggy walls reminds
A cog that it is hopelessly lost
And would be lucky to be found
Or noticed in the lurching machine
This groaning giant of industry
