Back to usual business after yesterday. No more soapboxing. At least in that sphere! Because I shall continue to soapbox, as this is my journal! Ha haaaaa!
Yesterday I did a proof of concept to demonstrate audio/video editing capability. Bear with me, because it’s somewhat amateur, but it’s something new! On my personal Youtube channel, you can find this playlist called RRC Broadcasts which will contain the podcasty type stuff I do if I do it in the future. I’ll link you to what I did yesterday: a reading of the Poikilothermal Special!
This is pretty exciting. A start, one might say, but I’m happy that this is within my capability. Now I just have to somehow be more interesting because my voice can be… something.
In similar news, my best friend Kasey was able to vectorize and draw up a version of my logo that’s infinitely higher quality than what used to be. The original logo I put together three years ago made from cobbled together and mixed up assets is now a piece of original content, courtesy of Kasey Coser. He does a lot of car stuff and has a photography thing on instagram, known among car meets all around southern California! Check out his stuff here!
So here’s the original logo:
Which is filled with jpg artifacts and is awfully compressed. Even looking at it now some pixelation along the edges of the graphic should be evident. This version is 71kb and measures 800×600 pixels or so. Give or take a dozen. Below is the version Kasey drew up for me.
Now this version measures 7500×7500. You can zoom in 500% and not yet see any artifacting. It’s optimized and the lack of artifacts means transparencies are stellar with this version. It compressed well since its original filetype is PNG. This is great news for any promotional stuff I want to do with it, and it looks so damn sleek and proper. Professional.
Now I can do these types of things! It’s already leagues better than what I had before, and this is just the logo set against photos already on the site elsewhere.
So when I sit down to write something I can have pride I have this wonderful little piece of art. If I want to send something in for a shirt, I can now. Large prints? I can do that now, too. Just radical to think about.
Got some audio/visual stuff rolling, now what about writing? Why, I have an excerpt for you this journal! This is going to be from a poem I lovingly titled “Thumper”, on killing beetles:
“When it slows
After it sustains
Another blow
Does it know
It’s dying?
‘Will it be missed?’
I ponder as I
Hit it again,”
This poem takes a look at the humanity behind killing insects that wander into your house. Got dark real fast. I like it!
Well take a look around the site, go watch that Poikilothermal Special on Youtube, and check our Kasey’s page on Instagram! It’s going to be a good season, I think. There’s a whisper in the air that chills me to the bone and makes my breath visible. Like being reminded of your own mortality constantly, I dive into autumn happy to be alive.
Thank you from Radio Reality City! Look at us getting all professional and stuff!
Nice work here!
