I wish to be so brave
As the invisible crowds
That walk these avenues
With their own cultures
And protests manifest
As this concrete jungle
To wander and be a part
A tiny piece of an
Enormous machine
And be happy with that
As the steps pile up
And we walkers press on
To be so brave
As to spend hours
In a Barnes And Noble
To go to Pike’s Place
And to go to Starbucks
Three times
I wish to be so brave
As to spectate and
Photograph these things
Like the waves of tourists
That add to this
Vicious cabaret
To be as vagrants
Who ask for money in
Every parking lot
To touch needles on the sidewalks
And gaze at what remains
Of fast food refuges
While the bulbs of neon
On every wall and skyscraper
Turn on with the night life
To be brave
As a city that has
Lungs
And breathes to feast
On the unique and vicious
Cultures as they protest
Each other in the smog
And the rain
And the heavy lights
I wish to be so brave
And be consumed
How that would be
Willingly
Willfully
Happily
Brave
