Downtown

Downtown
I’ve only ever heard of it
It’s another dimension
To me
A place I haven’t been able
To find

Downtown
Upside down

A door has opened
In another world
When you step out of
Your car

A switch flipped
Puzzle pieces fitted

It’s like having a
Slack jaw
After being
Punched in the face
By the city
At dawn

To see the lights
Of tiny suns
As you walk in the valley
Of the shadow of breath

As the universe breathes
You are a part of something

Anything

But it doesn’t matter
What
It actually is

You were there
You were a part of it

For whatever it meant
