It’s nearly that time of year again, where I officially age another year. I’m about to be 20, and am looking forward to no longer being a teenager. And hey, one more year until I can step foot in a bar without being a security guard, which is a big deal…?
Normally, to commemorate this glorious festival, we tend to get gifts when it’s our birthday, right? To make it easier on everyone, I normally put out a document of maybe 10 items that it a definite thing I want. Because how many times have you found yourself wandering around a mall trying to pick something meaningful out for someone close to you? It’s a damn hassle!
While my millennial friends are out buying a vape pen and looking at hodgepodge computers at Best Buy, I shall attempt to make my annual birthday list here, right on my website.
- Notebooks and cool pens. I like Moleskines, Pilot G-2s, and Pilot V7s.
- A PSN card good for one year.
- Any kind of telephoto lens compatible with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS.
- Some aviator sunglasses that look really cool. I don’t have anything specific in mind.
- iTunes gift cards! Music is the best!
- A five-subject spiral notebook.
- Rooster Teeth, Cow Chop, Jim Sterling, Bro Team, and Funhaus shirts.
- Really comprehensive word books (thesauruses, rhymes, dicitonaries).
- I mean, really, anything cool that you think I’d like. That means a lot.
- A MOLLE 3 day assault pack in a tan/coyote color.
And I’ll update this as my birthday approaches.
On to normal business! So my advanced writing class recently put up a sign-up sheet online for people to fill in spots to be workshopped in our next round of class. I’m the only person who signed up for my day. You know what that means? That means I get an hour and a half of time! Triple the poems! Triple the time! All me! This is going to be faaaaantastic and I am really riding that high right now because I’ve been putting out a lot of really good stuff I’m proud of lately. So I really can’t wait for the 30th to come. This is going to be fantastic. And all kinds of really cool stuff is happening now, so I can’t wait to write about all of it, too. Here it is! [ADV WRI WRKSHP – J-DAY]
Today I’m listening to Brave (Instrumental) by Tengger Cavalry and Near Dark by Dance With the Dead. Check ’em out!
And riding high on sunshine, now that we’re transitioning fully into summer here in Washington state. Camera’s out, ready to fire, and all that good stuff.
My black book is quickly filling up, and I’m languishing in anticipation of this wonderful Memorial weekend. I have a date! Should be plenty to write about after that. Something I’ve tried to maintain in my poetry is those metametaphors that reach across eras of my life, and I’ve just come up with some for Murmur, which already had a set ready for it. I really hope one day I’ll be able to sit down and organize these into a more consumable format, in a way that everyone will see the web of head canon that I’ve got going on.
Happy reading, everyone! We’re only a few more until 200 subscribers, we can do it!
