Spicy Dill Corn Dip

Spicy Dill Corn Dip

I was too young to understand

I know beneath my feet
Is the floor of a trailer

Used couches and
Thrifted tables on
Carpet forever tinged filthy white

Cardboarded up
Windows to the
Tiny bedroom
Two brothers share

And a master bedroom
With a dying grandmother
Holding the lease for
The unemployed parents
To stay in unknown to landlords

Because it was an
Elder community
55 and over
But the other people living there
Were no where near old
Enough to be exploited

So it was that the parents
Had friends over
Entire families
With their children
And lots of food
To supplement their
Food stamps as leftovers

To watch the super bowl
