We appeared at the hilltop’s crest
Above a valley’s present resistance
For this event we properly dressed
Telescoped views of a distant tempest

Conquested up by we mountaineers
We hook and grapple up cliffs, sheer
Drops from the rocks never made us fear
The destination’s wealth, because now we are here

In the charging tempest center
Maybe on the hill we look better
We travel, not just in fair weather,
Still tracing the map to the mark and letter

We have small arms, to guard we wield
On a small peak above a big battlefield
To tether before a hurricane and shield
Our cargo equipment and tornado-found yield

Then when it passes we will venture on
Pack up, pull stakes, and leave at dawn
Of this place we are not too fond
To stay now that the storm is gone
