Fat Cats

Fat Cats

Look at the fat cats loafing around
Couldn’t be higher than clouds to the ground
Look at those fat cats smoking cigars
When they’re not holding meetings in bars

Wine glass stains on million-dollar contracts
A billion connections that they could contact
Friends from Dubai always stopping by
Not even for business; just to say “Hi”

When the oil fields sprang up around the world
The fat cat’s suits only got bigger as they purred
The money made from extorting humanity
Is the greed that hurts the rest of us, like you and me

Look at the fat cats kissing their clerks
Whiskers sensing trouble at work
Look at those fat cats in their skyscrapers
When the world wasn’t enough, they were the takers

Of airwaves, of radio and TV
Into our homes they came with messages for we
Ignore them, we tried, unmoved by the signal
But the fat cats cared not for who got lost in the struggle

They’ll berate and debate with no one to elate
Talk political, never the physical
Career businessmen working in shadows
Commanding puppets and having gross value

Look at the fat cats sipping on bourbon
No wonder they talk so much: no one has heard ’em
Look at the fat cats driving fancy cars
Going no where on Earth, their sights are on Mars

Look at the fat cats watching us all
To talk back, no one had the gall
Look at the fat cats taking over
Becoming our new divine rulers
